President Salva Kiir has traveled to South Africa after leaving Kenya, where he held bilateral talks with President William Ruto, a Kenyan official has said.
According to Kenyan Cabinet Secretary for Public Service Geoffrey Kiringa Ruku, President Kiir left Kenya today for a bilateral visit to South Africa.
“I had the pleasure to see off His Excellency Salva Kirr Mayardit, the President of the Republic of South Sudan, as he left the country at JKIA following a two-day visit to the country for bilateral talks with His Excellency William Samoei Ruto, the President of the Republic of Kenya,” Ruku said in a post on X.
The State House in Juba has not provided details on the purpose of the President’s visit to South Africa.
The trip comes after President Kiir traveled to Nairobi on Sunday for talks with Kenyan President William Ruto.
The two leaders discussed bilateral relations, South Sudan’s December elections and regional economic cooperation.
The visit to South Africa will mark the third time President Kiir has traveled to the country for bilateral talks this year.
Kiir first visited South Africa in March and later in August.
