JUBA — Senior Presidential Envoy for Special Programs Adut Salva Kiir closed out the Inter-Party Dialogue on election affairs on Friday, October 9, 2026, by ruling out any further political extensions and asserting that the country’s roadmap is non-negotiable.
Addressing the gathered officials, Adut reaffirmed the administration’s full dedication to staging upcoming general elections, shifting the national focus away from endless dialogue and toward direct legal implementation.
“We must transition from consensus building to execution of our constitutional mandates. The presidency maintains a steadfast position. The democratic timeline of this nation is absolute and further transitions or extensions are no longer subject to negotiation,” Adut noted.
She further emphasized, “This dialogue was never designed to be an arena for political grievances or fresh power sharing disagreements. Its objective has been to establish a binding consensus on a peaceful and credible path forward towards a political dispensation.”
To guarantee a trustworthy electoral process, the envoy detailed four foundational pillars. These include safeguarding the legal structures so courts can manage voting disputes fairly and conclusively, and ensuring the National Elections Commission carries out administrative and logistical duties with exact operational precision. The third pillar involves speeding up statewide security deployments to protect citizens and maintain public safety. Finally, the fourth pillar focuses on using platforms like the dialogue to forge a unified national journey instead of reopening old power-sharing arguments.
In her concluding remarks, Adut called on all officials to immediately take these directives back to their respective offices and act on them swiftly to keep the nation firmly headed toward a stable democratic transition.
